Fusion Marine consolidates in Australia following link-up with Ocean
Tech
Fusion Marine
has forged a new relationship with Australian aquaculture specialist
Ocean Tech Industries Pty Ltd to supply three-ring plastic cages
for southern bluefin tuna, kingfish and Tasmanian salmon farming
operations in southern Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand.
Fusion Marine's
Oceanflex 315 and Triton 450 are seen as ideal for the exceptionally
tough and demanding sea conditions found in Australia. The extra
buoyancy and strength provided by these three-ring models are vital,
given that the cages are often burdened with heavy anti-predator
netting and other equipment.
The polyethylene
cages also feature a modular stanchion, which makes repair and maintenance
much easier to carry out without the expense of having to remove
the stock and the net, and then tow the cage ashore for essential
repairs.
Interest in
the cages has already been shown by a number of operators in the
Port Lincoln area south of Adelaide. According to Fusion Marine
managing director Stephen Divers, Australian farmers are beginning
to recognise the advantages that Oceanflex 315 and Triton 450 offer.
"The Oceanflex
and Triton are proven cage systems that not only provide more buoyancy
compared to other designs but also feature a stronger collar that
helps maintain net shape and volume in the cage. In addition, the
three rings provide a much more stable and safer working platform
for the operators," he says.
| "This
will provide further support to our Australian operations and
allow us to hold stock that will enable us to react quickly
to customer enquiries," said Mr Divers |
"We realised
that there was tremendous potential for these cages in southern
Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand, and that it would make sense
to appoint a reliable and trustworthy agent on the ground with great
experience in both polyethylene cage systems and the aquaculture
industry in general."
Fusion Marine
chose Ocean Tech Industries Pty Ltd because the company met the
demanding criteria Fusion was looking for. Ocean Tech will manufacture
and install the cages, and provide maintenance and on-site after-sales
service.
Meanwhile, to
further enhance Fusion Marine's on-site capability, its parent Fusion
Group has set up a new company, Fusion Australia, based in Adelaide.
"This will
provide further support to our Australian operations and allow us
to hold stock that will enable us to react quickly to customer enquiries,"
said Mr Divers.
